updates!
Hello there my faithful readers. Thank you for sticking by me through months of silence. I've recently learned that blogging is hard work. Writing is like playing an instrument, if you practice every day it gets easier and becomes more motivating, but when you let some time pass it can be cumbersome and awkward to restart. I'm writing this post to update you on how my year has been so far, and how my New Years resolution is going.
It's May now and I'm happy to say I haven't bought ANY new clothes! I've bought a Few second hand items and I have been gifted some hand me downs / one new shirt (a souvenir t shirt from my dad on our Bahamas trip), but I have not purchased any new clothing. Now before I start gloating too much, I have to admit that I did buy ONE pair of new shoes. A pair of black block heel Mary jane shoes. You have to understand that I rarely buy shoes, especially heels. I honestly don't think I've EVER bought myself a brand new pair of heels in my 24 (almost 25) years. But I was at work on Monday and I saw this girl wearing the cutest, most unique pair of black heels I have ever seen. So I found them online and then on Tuesday at midnight something took hold of me and somehow my credit card climbed out of my wallet and into my hand and now the shoes are on their way!
So as much as I'm feeling a little guilty about this purchase, I'm also not feeling TOO bad because technically shoes are a different category than clothing, and this felt like a once-in-many-years opportunity to get heels that I actually liked. So that's that.
I've been sewing a fair bit, mainly because my lovely aunt who is a dressmaker donated me a TON of fabric and notions, which is about as exciting as Christmas Day for a sewer.
I want to do a post where I show the things I've sewn lately, and another post showing the thrift finds and clothing swap treasures I've acquired over the past few months, so keep an eye out for those posts coming soon! Oh, and yes I will post pictures of the shoes as soon as they arrive ;)
