Sewing Project: Men's Plaid Shirt
Hello dear readers! Today I wanted to share with you a little project I finished a while back. It's a plaid flannel button up shirt. I made it for my boyfriend while he was away in August, but I had to wait to blog about it until I'd given it to him.
I used a Butterick pattern, and made a size medium. It was my first time making any menswear, and overall I'd say it went well! It took me about two weeks in total to finish. I only had ONE major crisis, which was that when I sewed the back on, I realised it was about 4-6 inches SHORTER than the front! UGH! So I had to cut another piece and sew it on to the bottom. Once I realised my mistake, I looked at the pattern piece, and what I had done was cut out the pattern piece wrong. I had cut the hem allowance off completely! Oh well. As you can see, the piece I added to the bottom doesn't match exactly, and the sleeves are somehow turned around ... the button is on the outside, rather than the inside like it regularly is on a shirt. Not too sure how that happened to be honest!
In other news, I've made some significant progress on my French Navy Now dress, so look for a post on that in the next few weeks!
XO
