September Update
September has been an absolute whirlwind so far! I mean I really can't complain - it's been an absolute blast - but wow has it been busy! I've been to a few weddings, gone to Ottawa for a race, started school, and on and on it goes. Needless to say, I have a few updates to fill you in on.
Sewing Update
Amidst all of this September craziness, I haven't had a ton of time for thrifting, upcycling, or sewing, which sucks. The only project I've really been working on has been a pattern by French Navy Now for a dress called The Orla Dress. It's my first time printing a PDF pattern and attempting to tape it together/cut it out. I'm not quite done that process yet, but I'm really excited to find some time to keep working on it because I already have the fabric (forest green cotton, found at Value Village), and the design is really cute.
Attempting to tape/cut the pattern... feat. my laptop cord.
Life Update
Til' next time! (hopefully next week)
XOXO

2017 New Years Resolution Update
A few weeks ago I was sitting by a pool, enjoying some sangria with two of my cousins, and they were discussing orders for Levi's jeans that they were putting in to my aunt (who works for Levi's and gets a sweet discount). They asked me if I wanted to put anything in, and in my sangria-doused state, I completely BLANKED and put in an order for some Levi's 721's. WHOOPS. It wasn't until a week or two later when I realized that what I'd done technically breached my resolution of no new clothes!! When the jeans came in, my sweet and perfect auntie refused to let me pay her for them, so technically I didn't *buy* them, but still .... strike #2 for me (strike #1 was the shoes).
Life Update
On September 5th I started a new college post grad program. It's called Advertising Copywriting, and if you don't know what that is, it's basically learning how to write the text for ads, web pages, TV and radio commercials, and ... BLOGS! I'm learning a ton about writing for the web, optimizing content, and even some graphic design. I can't wait to start putting this new knowledge to use here on my blog! (Actually I already have started ... note the broken up text and fancy subheadings :P). Another thing about school is that for my Writing for the Web class, we're supposed to work on a "Passion Project", aka something creative we do online, outside of class. I've chosen to work on this blog as my passion project, which means I need to start posting more regularly (preferably once a week).
Blog Update
I've been thinking about a name change for this blog. Ivy & Bee was a name I chose when I thought I would have a little sewing business where I made clothes/pillows/accessories. While I still want to do that, it's definitely on the back burner at this stage in my life, so I want to somehow separate my blog from that currently-paused business. But what would be a good name for a blog? and is separating the two even a good idea? *sigh*. I'll think on this. Please let me know your thoughts as well, whether that be as a comment here, or in person.
Til' next time! (hopefully next week)
